Al Davis legacy shifting

December 4thUSA Today

Two decades ago, Al Davis and Bill Parcells were chatting during an NFL owners meeting when Davis' new coach strolled by. "I want you to meet Mike Shanahan," Davis told Parcells. "He's going to be a great head coach." Shanahan, 35 at the time, has indeed distinguished himself, but not with Davis' Raiders. Twenty games into his tenure, he was fired, the same point that Davis fired Lane Kiffin this week. Read More

Titans and Ravens to Get Physical in Baltimore

December 3rdThe Sports Network

Running the football successfully and stopping the opponent's ground game are keys to a winning formula. Fans at M&T Bank Stadium will get to see that first hand on Sunday afternoon, when the unbeaten Tennessee Titans pay a visit to the Baltimore Ravens. The 4-0 Titans are off to their best start in franchise history because of their ability to run the ball and keep the opposition grounded with their stingy defense. Head coach Jeff Fisher has one of the best running back tandems in the game, as LenDale White is tied for the league lead with five rushing touchdowns and rookie Chris Johnson has taken the NFL by storm. The first-round draft choice is second in the AFC with 337 rushing yards. Read More

Vikings-Saints: Great backs are worlds apart

December 3rdStar Tribune

Adrian Peterson considers Reggie Bush a friend. The running backs spent time together this summer at Bush's home in Los Angeles. "Some of his buddies were down from San Diego, and we just kicked it and had a good time for the weekend," Peterson said. Each has great respect and admiration for the other, and they both strike fear in opposing defenses because of their big-play ability. But their styles, which will be on full display Monday when the Vikings play at New Orleans, could not be more different. Read More

Fresh attitudes paying dividends for Broncos

December 3rdFox Sports

ENGLEWOOD, Col. - There was a telling juxtaposition Friday at Denver Broncos headquarters. During his post-practice news conference, coach Mike Shanahan said he expects former Broncos running back Travis Henry will spend "a number of years in prison" following this week's arrest on federal drug trafficking charges. In a separate interview being conducted nearby at the same time, Broncos tight end Daniel Graham was referencing Henry's offseason release and other roster changes as the main reason Denver enters Sunday's home game against Tampa Bay much improved from 2007.
